Stephanie Phelps, LPC, M.Ed.
I've always enjoyed helping others. When I went to college, I decided to make it my career. In pursuit of my goal, I received my Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Counseling at the College of William & Mary, and earned my Professional Counseling License in the state of PA.
In the past decade, I have had the opportunity to work with many different populations, including children ages 3-18, families, parents, and adults. I have often seen people diagnosed with disorders that didn’t quite fit them. Therefore in my practice, I focus on the individual not the diagnosis. I believe in empowering individuals to set reasonable goals for themselves, and help give them the resources to reach those goals.

The most important aspect of counseling is the relationship between the therapist and client. I have the utmost respect for all of my clients, and enjoy seeing them progress and make positive changes in their life. I don't believe in a one size fits all approach. I consider myself an eclectic therapist, meaning I pull from many different therapeutic strategies and techniques, based upon the treatment needs for that individual or family. Some of the approaches I use and find to be effective for most people are: Solution-focused therapy, CBT, Mindfulness, and Family Systems Therapy,

I am very fortunate to have a job that I love. Each year has taught me that as people, we all have strengths that we can build on. I have had the privilege of working with many clients of all ages, and through those experiences have gained the knowledge that with the right support and motivation, everyone has the capacity change.
